Angdu, Junaid and Muneeb shine as Dynamos RC, Basgo, UTD Gunners secure convincing victories

Leh, Apr 8: A day defined by explosive batting and decisive bowling spells in the Tokdan Rinpoche Tournament 2.0 saw Angdu’s commanding 75, Junaid Bashir’s five-wicket haul, and a blistering chase led by Muneeb Malik headline three one-sided league encounters at NDS Ground. The performances not only dictated outcomes but also exposed the widening gap between sides able to sustain pressure and those struggling to respond.

Dynamos RC produced the most rapid finish of the day, chasing down 132 in just 10.1 overs against Saspol Squadron. The pursuit was marked by sustained aggression, with Muneeb Malik hammering 42 off 15 balls and Norigzen Laba adding 38 at a similar strike rate. Their partnership dismantled the bowling early, ensuring the target never posed a serious challenge.

Saspol Squadron, having opted to bat, relied heavily on Stanzin Lektsog’s unbeaten 52 to reach 131/7. While the innings showed phases of consolidation, the lack of acceleration in the latter overs left them vulnerable. The total proved inadequate against a side that approached the chase with clarity and attacking intent.

In the second fixture, Basgo delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat United Pangong by 131 runs. Angdu’s 75 off 37 balls set the tone, combining precision with power, while Tsewang Norphel’s 42 off 14 further accelerated the scoring, taking the side to 232/8 in 20 overs.

United Pangong’s reply never gained traction. Early setbacks and an inability to build partnerships saw them restricted to 101/9. The bowling unit maintained consistent pressure, with Angdu and Tsewang Norbu claiming two wickets each, ensuring the contest remained firmly one-sided.

United Gunners, meanwhile, combined depth in batting with a relentless bowling effort to secure a 137-run victory over KNK. Contributions were spread across the order, with Stanzin Chotak striking 35 off 15 deliveries and Waseem Kachur adding 33, guiding the side to 197/9.

The defining moment came during KNK’s chase, where Junaid Bashir’s incisive spell of five wickets for seven runs dismantled the batting line-up. KNK were bowled out for 60 in 11.3 overs, unable to withstand sustained pressure from a disciplined attack.

Across the three matches, a clear pattern emerged: teams that seized early momentum through aggressive batting or early breakthroughs dictated the tempo, leaving little scope for recovery. As the league stage progresses, the emphasis on intent and execution appears to be shaping a tournament where margins are increasingly defined by phases of dominance rather than prolonged contests.
