NEW DELHI, Oct 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday unveiled a new slogan — “We Will Do It” — while calling for collective efforts to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
Addressing the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, Modi said the vision of a developed India would be achieved through visionary policies, hard work and the collective strength of the country’s 140 crore citizens.
He said one of the biggest challenges facing India was the division of society along caste and vote-bank lines, stressing that problems affecting people do not discriminate on the basis of caste or community.
“When a farmer’s field lacks water, does the problem affect only one caste? When there is no electricity, does darkness fall only on one community?” Modi asked, emphasising that solutions must benefit everyone.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that India would achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
He said the country had grown from a population of less than 40 crore a century ago to more than 140 crore today, and this collective strength would drive India’s transformation.
Modi listed several national goals and repeated his new slogan: “Viksit Bharat by 2047 — We Will Do It; Top 3 Economy — We Will Do It; Self-Reliant India — We Will Do It; Global Manufacturing Hub — We Will Do It; Hosting the Olympics — We Will Do It; Step into Space — We Will Do It.”
Highlighting his government’s achievements, Modi said several developments that once appeared impossible had now become reality. He pointed to the achievement of bringing 25 crore people out of poverty within a decade as an example of India’s potential.
Referring to Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar, who was praised for his courage after allegedly foiling an attempt to crash an Israel-bound flydubai flight, Modi said the world was now talking about an Indian pilot and expressed confidence that a day would come when the world would talk about “made-in-India” aircraft.
“These goals will be achieved through visionary policies and relentless hard work. India may have challenges, but we also have 140 crore solutions,” Modi said.
Modi also marked 25 years as head of government, having first taken oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, before serving three terms in the state and subsequently becoming Prime Minister after winning three consecutive Lok Sabha elections.
Recalling his journey, Modi said he had never imagined that he would reach such a milestone when he first became Gujarat Chief Minister.
He expressed gratitude to the people of India for their trust and said, “For me, people are God; hardworking BJP workers are my strength.”
The Prime Minister also thanked his colleagues in the BJP and NDA, as well as those committed to democracy. He said his well-wishers had encouraged him, while his critics had helped him look inward and improve.
