Leh, Jun 18: As part of the solemn observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025, the Dhanurdhari Gunners of the Indian Army organised a tree plantation drive in Stakna Village, Leh, paying heartfelt tribute to the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of the Kargil War heroes.
The initiative, held in the serene backdrop of Ladakh’s Stakna Village, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, students, and schoolteachers, turning the event into a vibrant community celebration of national pride and environmental consciousness. Schoolchildren, armed with saplings and patriotic fervour, joined hands with the soldiers to plant trees—each one a living memorial to the bravehearts who laid down their lives during the Kargil conflict of 1999.
The plantation drive not only served as a mark of respect for the fallen soldiers but also shared vision of a greener, more sustainable Ladakh. The event also featured short speeches, patriotic songs, and a collective pledge by the students and villagers to protect the environment and uphold the values of courage, unity, and sacrifice.
By combining ecological awareness with patriotic remembrance, the Indian Army once again showcased its commitment not just to national security but also to community development and environmental stewardship in the high-altitude frontier region.
