Kargil, Jun 18: Prominent youth leader and social activist Mohd Hassanain Rocky today visited Government Degree College, Sankoo, where he engaged in a detailed discussion with the President and executive members of the student body. During the meeting, Rocky addressed multiple ongoing challenges affecting the academic environment and student welfare.
Rocky noted that with a current enrollment of 168 students, the college lacks essential infrastructure needed for effective learning. He emphasized that students deserve a fully developed campus with proper facilities and expressed his full support for their demands.
A major concern raised was the non-functional transportation facility. A college bus has remained unused for over 45 days, despite students’ pressing need for reliable travel options. This has disrupted daily attendance and added stress to students commuting from remote areas.
He also spotlighted the suspension of skill development programs. Although equipment has been provided, no practical sessions have taken place. Students have appealed to local leaders multiple times, but their requests have not been acted upon.
Rocky called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and the Commissioner Secretary of Higher Education to intervene immediately and resolve the issues. He urged the administration to prioritize student needs and take effective measures without delay.
Concluding his visit, Rocky reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the students of Sankoo College. He pledged to continue advocating for a better academic environment that fosters growth, learning, and opportunity for the youth of Ladakh.
