Jammu, Aug 11: Rich tributes were paid to the innocent victims of the barbaric Pahalgam attack, and the valour of India Armed Forces during the Operation Sindoor that followed, was celebrated as the House Corp Cooperative Public School, Tawi Vihar, Sidhra Jammu—popularly known as SP Smart School for following the SP Smart Schooling System– celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervor, vibrant performances, and a spirit of unity.
Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Divisional Commissioner Jammu, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, accompanied by his wife Anuradha Jangid, the Guest of Honour at the vibrant event held at the school, which also had the distinguished presence of prominent journalist, policy intellectual and political analyst Zafar Choudhary as the Special Guest.
The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, marking an auspicious start to the program.
The guests were warmly welcomed by Shivang Satya Gupta, Chairman SP Educational Trust and Chief Executive Officer, SP Smart Schools, along with Shilpa Gupta, Additional CEO, Snigdha Singh, Principal, and the school’s management and staff members. Hundreds of parents joined the celebrations alongside the students, making it a truly community-driven event.
The cultural program featured a series of captivating performances, with the most memorable being a heartfelt tribute to the victims of April 22 Pahalgam terrorists attack, and the innocent lives lost in Pakistani cross-firing during Operation Sindoor, which left the audience deeply moved.
The students also paid rich homage to the valour of Indian Armed Forces.
A Science and Cultural Exhibition was also organised by the students, showcasing their creativity, innovation, and talent in various fields.
Principal Snigdha Singh delivered the welcome address, introducing the Chief Guest and highlighting his exceptional contributions in public service. A specially curated video presentation showcased Ramesh Kumar’s impactful work across various administrative roles.
In his address, Ramesh Kumar lauded the efforts of the students and staff for their creative presentations, including skits and dances.
Terming them as the future of the great country that is Bharat, the Divisional Commissioner exhorted them to become the torch bearers of the ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Ramesh Kumar also commended the vision of Shivang Satya Gupta and SP Smart Schools in raising the standards of school education in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Shivang Satya Gupta shared the school’s journey and its commitment to holistic education. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Special Guest, parents, and students for making the day memorable. He also paid homage to the school’s founder, Late Shri S P Gupta Ji, recalling his guidance and values that continue to shape the institution.
Special Guest Zafar Choudhary also addressed the gathering, appreciating the dedication of the staff and the exceptional performance of the students.
He remarked on his personal connection with SP Smart Schools and praised its consistent efforts to be the most admired school among students and parents alike.
The Chief Guest was presented with a memento by CEO SP Smart Schools, Shivang Satya Gupta, and Special Guest Zafar Choudhary, as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
The celebration concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a lunch for parents, participants, and students, marking the end of a day filled with patriotism, joy, and togetherness.
