Leh, Mar 25: A run-heavy spectacle dominated proceedings at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan Stadium on Tuesday, with explosive batting displays headlined by Angdu’s commanding 126 powering Basgo to a 52-run victory, as all three matches in the ongoing second Padma Bhushan His Eminence Chosje Togdan Rinpoche Memorial T20 Tournament were decisively won by sides batting first.
The day unfolded as a clear exhibition of batting dominance, with Predators (199/6), Basgo (216/5) and KNK (171/9) posting imposing totals that proved beyond reach for their opponents, underlining the growing influence of aggressive stroke play in the tournament.
Angdu’s scintillating 126 off 57 balls stood out as the defining innings of the day, steering Basgo to a formidable 216 for 5. His knock, laced with boundaries and sixes, dismantled the Hanle bowling attack and set up a daunting chase.
Hanle Cricket Club responded with intent but failed to sustain momentum, finishing at 164 for 7 despite contributions from Kasang Nurboo (35) and Ksng 20 (28). Basgo’s disciplined bowling ensured control through the middle overs, sealing a comprehensive 52-run win.
Earlier, Predators laid the foundation for the day’s run surge, compiling 199 for 6 after opting to bat. Tariq (57) and Fida Borgo (59) anchored the innings, while Altaf Hussain’s late surge added crucial acceleration.
Dynamos RC’s chase was driven by Norigzen Laba’s aggressive 77, but consistent breakthroughs stalled progress. The side was eventually bowled out for 156 in 18 overs, handing Predators a 43-run victory.
Tariq delivered an all-round performance, claiming three wickets to complement his half-century.
In the final match, KNK posted 171 for 9, riding on captain Rangdol K’s authoritative 77 off 37 deliveries. His innings provided early impetus, with contributions from Dorjay Gyalson and Tashi Chuma adding stability.
Yak Kanji faltered in pursuit, despite Tashi Gyatso’s 32, as Agu Kesar’s incisive spell of 5 for 17 dismantled the middle and lower order. The innings closed at 136 in 17.4 overs, giving KNK a 35-run win.
Across all three fixtures, the pattern remained consistent—teams batting first seized control with aggressive intent, while chasing sides struggled under scoreboard pressure.
The day belonged emphatically to the batters, with standout performances from Angdu, Tariq and Rangdol K shaping outcomes, while timely bowling spells ensured that each contest tilted firmly in favour of the teams setting the target.
