Srinagar, Feb 01: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday allocated Rs 43,290.29 crore for Jammu and Kashmir in the Union Budget 2026-27, marking an increase of nearly Rs 2,000 crore over the current financial year.
According to budget figures accessed by news agency Kashmir News Observer, the Union Finance Ministry has earmarked Rs 43,290.29 crore in transfers to the Union Territory for 2026-27.
The current financial year’s allocation has been revised upward to Rs 41,340 crore from the initially proposed Rs 41,000.07 crore—an increase of Rs 340 crore.
The 2026-27 budget breakdown includes Rs 42,650 crore as central assistance to bridge J&K’s resource gap, Rs 279 crore in grants for the Union Territory Disaster Response Fund, Rs 259 crore as equity for the Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project, and Rs 101 crore to support capital expenditure.
