Poonch, October 23: Security forces on Friday busted a suspected hideout in the Kasbalari area of Mendhar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district and recovered several suspicious items, including containers suspected to be improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Officials said the search operation was launched in the general area of Kasbalari following specific intelligence inputs received by the security forces.
During the search, the forces recovered a black-coloured bag, six brown tape-insulated containers suspected to be IEDs, one blue tape-insulated container also suspected to be an IED, and a combat pouch.
The recovered items also included a black iron box suspected to contain a magazine, one magazine believed to be for a 7.62 mm light machine gun (LMG), an aluminium container, two power adapters and a power source, along with a tiffin.
The recovery has prompted further examination of the seized materials to ascertain their nature and possible use.
Security forces continue to maintain vigilance in the border district of Poonch as part of ongoing efforts to prevent militant activities and strengthen security in the region.
