NEW DELHI, FEB 10: Jammu & Kashmir BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma CA raised critical public-interest issues on urban mobility and rural livelihood generation during Rajya Sabha proceedings, eliciting detailed replies from Union Ministries. In an unstarred question, he pressed for updates on Jammu city’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), stressing the need for sustainable, integrated transport infrastructure.
Union Minister Tokhan Sahu (Housing and Urban Affairs) confirmed the CMP’s preparation as a long-term framework to boost public transport, cut congestion and emissions, enhance road safety, enable multimodal integration, and promote Transit-Oriented Development, with short-term traffic management and bus enhancements leading to long-term mass rapid transit systems; notably, 100 buses were sanctioned for Jammu under PM eBus Sewa.
Sharma also highlighted Khadi and Village Industries development in J&K, inquiring about clusters, funding, and jobs. MSME Minister Shobha Karandlaje revealed six clusters underway under SFURTI across Ramban, Doda, Samba, Baramulla, Pulwama, and Srinagar, plus ₹501.64 lakh sanctioned and disbursed under Khadi Gramodyog Vikas Yojana over three years, with high utilization generating employment, especially for women and SC/ST artisans. Sharma affirmed these efforts underscore BJP’s dedication to equitable urban progress and robust rural economies in J&K, fostering inclusive growth for all.
