Jammu, Nov 03: Punjabi Sahitak Sabha (PSS), R S Pura, organized a Punjabi literary meet at Lexicon International Play-way School, Tali More, Miran Sahib, drawing leading poets and writers from Jammu and Kashmir. The event was presided over by Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, with Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, President of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, as chief guest, and Dr. Nirmal Vinod as guest of honour.
Newly elected PSS President Dr. Rajvir Singh welcomed guests and participants, outlining his vision to strengthen Punjabi literary activity and encourage young talent. He also announced the Sabha’s new executive committee, naming Balwinder Singh Deep as Senior Vice-President, Balkar Singh as Vice-President, JPS Azaad as General Secretary/Treasurer, and Jang S. Verman as Media Advisor, along with an advisory panel of senior writers.
In his address, Dr. Amn praised the Sabha’s rejuvenated team and the growing participation of young and female poets, describing it as a positive step for Punjabi literature in the region. Dr. Raina and Dr. Vinod also commended the platform for nurturing creative exchange.
Poets including JPS Azaad, Balwinder Singh Deep, Renu Sharma, Seeta, Simranjit Kour, Bhupinder Bhargav, Saran Star, and others presented verses on themes of society, nature, and contemporary life. Suraj Prakash Rattan conducted the proceedings, while JPS Azaad recorded the session.
The meet concluded with a vote of thanks by S. Harjit Singh Uppal, reaffirming Punjabi Sahitak Sabha’s commitment to promoting literary dialogue in Jammu and Kashmir.
