JAMMU, FEB 23: Major General APS Bal, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Counter-Insurgency Force (CIF) Delta, on Monday hailed Operation Trashi-I as a textbook case of perseverance, strategic clarity, meticulous planning, visionary leadership, and the unwavering commitment of Indian security forces in combating terrorism.
Speaking at a press conference, Maj Gen Bal underscored the operation’s success as a shining example of integrated efforts across all levels, from ground troops to top commanders including co-commanders, ADGs, IGs, the DGP, and the Army Commander. “This recently concluded Operation Trashi is the perfect example of perseverance, clarity of thought, proper planning, the vision we had, and most importantly, the relentless efforts over months by every force and agency involved,” he stated. “It demonstrates seamless coordination at every level—from troops on the ground to all of us here, between co-commanders, ADGs, IGs, the DGP, and the Army Commander—where everyone contributed decisively to this triumph.”
The senior officer highlighted the critical role of a robust support system that sustained the terrorists’ hideouts, noting that the extensive infrastructure and supplies ferried from local markets could not have existed without local assistance. He affirmed that the police are fully cognizant of these networks, possess the necessary intelligence without naming individuals, and will take firm action against all enablers. “There was a support system available to them, and the scale of infrastructure created and stores ferried from markets to hideouts couldn’t happen without it. The police are fully aware and will act resolutely against everyone involved,” Maj Gen Bal asserted.
Describing the execution, he praised the calm, composed, collective, and collaborative approach that ensured zero casualties among troops, with the only exception being the brave sniffer dog Tyson, who spearheaded the initial detection. “We operated in a very calm, composed, collective, collaborative manner, achieving this success without any harm to our troops—except for Tyson, who bravely initiated the operation,” he added.
Maj Gen Bal further reaffirmed the ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism, revealing that forces have neutralized six Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in February alone, including one each in Udhampur and Kishtwar. “We’ll keep eliminating terrorists entering our area. In February, we’ve taken out six JeM terrorists, at both extremes—one in Udhampur and another in Kishtwar,” he concluded, signaling relentless vigilance ahead.
