Leh, May 12 : Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brigadier B. D. Mishra inspected the Pashmina Dehairing Plant in Leh and reviewed its functioning across various stages of raw pashmina wool processing.
During the visit, the LG directed officials to make optimal use of modern infrastructure, including the newly installed scouring machine, to enhance efficiency and maintain global quality benchmarks in pashmina processing.
He also asked officials to explore livelihood generation opportunities by promoting hand-spinning, skill development initiatives, and the utilisation of coarse wool for making rugs and carpets that have strong market demand.
Reaffirming his commitment to promoting Ladakh’s traditional pashmina industry, the Lieutenant Governor said pashmina is an ancient heritage of Ladakh and stressed the need to strengthen local processing, improve quality standards, and ensure greater value addition to establish Ladakh as a global hub for the finest pashmina products.
