Khaltse, Apr 10: The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project in Khaltse subdivision of Leh on Thursday commenced the Poshan Pakhwada campaign with a series of awareness activities aimed at promoting better nutrition practices at the grassroots level.
The initiative, undertaken as per directions from the District Programme Officer, ICDS Leh, began with a rally designed to sensitise local communities about the importance of balanced nutrition, particularly among women and children.
Officials said the fortnight-long outreach programme, scheduled from April 9 to April 23, will be conducted across all Anganwadi Centres in the Khaltse subdivision. The campaign is part of a nationwide effort led by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to strengthen nutritional awareness and encourage behavioural change at the household level.
In parallel with local activities, functionaries in Khaltse also participated in a video conference organised in connection with the national rollout of the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Khaltse, Shakila Bano, outlined the objectives of the programme, underlining the role of sustained community engagement in improving nutritional indicators. She stressed that awareness initiatives must be complemented by active participation from families to ensure better outcomes.
The event witnessed participation from Anganwadi workers across the subdivision, who are expected to play a central role in implementing the campaign and engaging with beneficiaries over the coming weeks.
Officials indicated that a range of activities, including awareness sessions and community outreach, will be carried out during the campaign period to reinforce the message of nutrition and health at the village level.
