New Delhi, Feb 19: Delhi Police arrested Mudassar from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, near Red Fort for allegedly impersonating a central agency officer and scamming vulnerable families with bogus job offers, an official said Thursday.
Kotwali police station teams spotted his black Hyundai Santro (J&K registration) parked suspiciously near Delhi Chalo Park behind the Red Fort during a patrol. Inside were Mudassar and a minor boy.
Questioned on the spot, Mudassar flashed a fake ID mimicking a National Investigation Agency card. Both were taken to the station for checks.
Probes revealed he’d targeted poor J&K families, promising Delhi jobs for cash. He’d taken an advance from the minor’s family, brought the boy to the city on Feb 13 after leaving Kashmir on Feb 12, and housed him at a Jama Masjid guest house—while providing no proof of job contacts.
Joint grilling with the Special Cell, Intelligence Bureau, and the agency confirmed the ID was forged. A case is registered, and investigations continue.
