JAIPUR, Aug 22: Cross-FIRs have been registered following a confrontation between members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and local residents during the outfit’s visit to a Government school in Jaipur’s Rampura Kanwarpura village, with both sides accusing each other of assault and creating a disturbance.

The CJP team had visited the village on Friday to inspect the condition of the Government school as part of its “School Thik Karo” campaign. A confrontation broke out between the visiting team and villagers during the visit.

The CJP alleged that its members were attacked by people it described as “BJP goons”, while some villagers claimed that the team’s presence created fear and disturbance in the area.

Shivdaspura SHO Rajesh Gautam said a local villager lodged a complaint alleging that a large number of CJP members had arrived in the village and intimidated residents, causing fear among children and affecting school attendance.

A counter-FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint by a CJP member, who alleged that members of the team were assaulted during the incident. The CJP has demanded immediate action against those allegedly involved in the attack.

CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka alleged that the attackers were brought in by BJP leaders and said the outfit had video footage and other evidence of the incident.

Videos purportedly showing the confrontation surfaced after the incident, depicting heated exchanges, pushing and shoving between the CJP team and a group of people. Some clips also showed damaged windows of vehicles allegedly belonging to the visiting team.

According to villagers, barricades were put up to prevent the CJP team from entering the area. They also claimed that funds had already been sanctioned for repairing the school building and that the work could be undertaken locally.

The school had been operating from a cattle enclosure after its original building was declared unsafe. On Saturday morning, authorities shifted students to a new premises.

Police said both complaints are being investigated and further action will follow based on the findings.
