Kargil, Sept 25: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, has strongly condemned the incident in Leh where force was reportedly used against the public.
The CEC expressed deep concern over the unfortunate development and stated that LAHDC Kargil stands in complete solidarity with the people of Ladakh. He urged the people to maintain law and order and place their trust in peaceful and non-violent means of expression.
Dr. Jaffer Akhoon further assured the Government of India that LAHDC Kargil has always believed in resolving issues through peaceful and meaningful dialogue and reaffirmed that the Council is always ready to engage in talks for the larger interest of the people of Ladakh.
He also appealed to the Government of India to address the concerns of Ladakh in the upcoming High-Power Committee talks, with the hope that the long-pending agendas, including Statehood and Sixth Schedule, will be fulfilled.
The CEC also urged the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh to ensure restraint in the use of force and to allow democratic voices of the people to be heard in a peaceful manner.
Reiterating LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to the aspirations of the people, the CEC emphasized that peaceful engagement and constructive dialogue remain the only way forward for a just resolution.
Later in the day the Akhoon, has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives during the recent protest in Leh.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for strength and patience in this hour of tragedy.
The CEC also wished a speedy recovery for all those injured in the incident and appeals to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the UT Administration of Ladakh to provide ex-gratia relief, immediate assistance, and necessary medical support to the affected families and injured protesters.
Dr Jaffer Akhoon reaffirmed that LAHDC Kargil stands in solidarity with the people of Ladakh during this difficult time and emphasized the need for peace, unity, and dialogue to resolve issues in a just and meaningful manner.
