Kargil, Jan 20: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil Imteeaz Kacho on Tuesday flagged off the Under-19 Boys Handball team from Kargil, which will represent Ladakh at the 69th National School Games to be held in Gujarat from January 26 to January 31.
Officials informed the ADC that a total of 15 students have been selected to represent Ladakh at the national event. The team includes nine players from Kargil district and six players from Leh district, reflecting joint participation from both regions of the Union Territory.
During a brief interaction with the players before their departure, the ADC encouraged them to perform with dedication and confidence. He underlined the value of taking part in national-level sports events, saying that travel and competition give young players wider exposure and help build self-belief. He advised the students to maintain discipline and sportsmanship throughout the tournament and to carry themselves with dignity as representatives of Ladakh.
The ADC also reminded the players that sports is a learning process, where both victory and defeat shape character. He urged the team members to act as ambassadors of their district and the region, not only on the field but also off it. Stressing the role of youth in society, he called upon the players to support the fight against drug abuse and contribute towards building a healthy and drug-free environment.
Wishing the team success in the upcoming championship, the ADC expressed hope that the players would return with valuable experience and pride for Ladakh.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by Physical Education Master Ibrahim Shoqi, Coach Master Hussain, and other concerned officials
