Leh, Aug 12: The NSS Unit of EJM College and the Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with the J&K AIDS Control Society, observed International Youth Day as part of the IEC Intensified Campaign 2025, bringing together over a hundred volunteers in Leh.
The event began with an environmental pledge-taking ceremony on the college campus, where NSS programme officers, faculty members, and student participants committed to sustainable practices. This was followed by a walkathon within the campus to promote youth engagement in environmental protection.
Later, the volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive at Sindhu Ghat, a popular spot along the Indus River, clearing litter and raising awareness about hygiene and conservation. Organisers said the activities aimed to motivate young people to take active roles in addressing social and environmental challenges.
International Youth Day is observed globally to encourage youth participation in community development and to highlight their role in shaping a healthier, more aware society.
