Leh, Jul 05: A three-day Youth Entrepreneurship Program began today at the University of Ladakh, Leh Campus, with Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha inaugurating the event aimed at nurturing entrepreneurial skills among young people in the region.
Organized under the Enterprising Ladakh initiative, the program is part of the UT Ladakh administration’s wider mission to build self-reliance and promote enterprise-led growth among youth. The Department of Higher Education, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, is leading the efforts to deliver hands-on learning experiences in entrepreneurship.
Backed by the office of the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, and Higher Education Secretary Smt. Bhanu Prabha, the initiative is guided by EDII’s Director General Dr. Sunil Shukla and Project Director Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi.
The Entrepreneurship Awareness Program, running from July 4 to 6, introduces participants to key aspects of business creation, including ideation, financial planning, and marketing. The opening day featured expert-led sessions by officials and entrepreneurs such as DDM NABARD’s Tsering Dorjey and EDII mentors Abhishake Nandan, Rigzin Wangdus, and Ms. Fariha Fatima, who emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial thinking and identifying local business avenues.
On the second day, the focus shifted to product development and eco-friendly business practices. Ms. Fariha Fatima led an interactive session on sustainable packaging, followed by practical demonstrations by Bijendra Singh of IRHS Pvt Ltd. and Ms. Nidhi Verma of Intelismart Energy Solutions.
The program is scheduled to extend across all seven districts of Ladakh, aiming to cultivate a culture of innovation and enterprise among the youth. Organizers hope that this continued outreach will inspire participants to become future business leaders and employment generators in their communities.
