Leh, Aug 05: Patients at SNM Hospital, Leh, experienced a soothing start to the week with a dedicated yoga session held at the GT Ward, focusing on lung function and joint mobility. The monthly event, part of the hospital’s wellness drive, was conducted by certified yoga instructor Ms. Rinchen Dolma.
Monday’s session placed special attention on breathing exercises and physical postures aimed at improving lung capacity, particularly aiding those with asthma. Techniques such as Kapalbhati, Bhastrika, and Brahmari Pranayama were introduced, alongside yoga asanas like Uttan Manduk Asana, Ustrasana, Bhujangasana, and Ardha Chakrasana. These practices were selected to support better respiratory function and inner calm.
The session also included exercises to ease joint discomfort, especially targeting knee and wrist pain. Ms. Dolma carefully demonstrated movements that catered to the patients’ varying conditions, offering a gentle yet effective approach to pain relief.
Participants responded positively, engaging with the exercises and sharing feedback on the benefits they experienced. Many described the session as both relaxing and energizing.
SNM Hospital continues to integrate yoga into patient care through these regular monthly sessions, encouraging recovery through natural methods and holistic practices rooted in traditional wellness.
