Srinagar, Jul 24: In a major development set to ease medical access for Ladakh residents, the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has named Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Bhat as the Nodal Officer for patients arriving from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Dr. Bhat, currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of General Medicine at SKIMS, will be responsible for coordinating healthcare services for Ladakh patients undergoing treatment at the institute.
The appointment was confirmed through an official order issued by the Director of SKIMS. As per the document, the move is intended to streamline coordination between departments and improve service delivery for those coming from the high-altitude region.
Dr. Bhat’s role involves liaising with various SKIMS departments to make sure that patients from Ladakh receive timely medical care and guidance throughout their treatment process.
This appointment is seen as a practical step towards bridging healthcare gaps between regions and offering focused support to a growing number of patients who travel from Ladakh to Srinagar for advanced medical care.
With this measure in place, SKIMS hopes to ensure smoother communication and improved patient outcomes for those traveling long distances in search of specialized treatment.
