Nyoma, Jul 09: In an electrifying final held at Waste Naga Ground, Changthang Shan defeated Nyoma Senior by 13 runs to win the 19th Kailash Trophy. The thrilling match drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, celebrating the local cricketing spirit.
The event was attended by the Commander of the 254 Snow Leopard Brigade, Councillor Ishey Spalzang, and the Commanding Officer of the 13 Guards. What began nearly two decades ago as a modest inter-village contest has grown into Changthang’s most prominent cricket tournament, with 25 teams participating from across the region.
The final match drew an impressive turnout and featured intense cricket, highlighting the emerging talent of the Changthang region. The closing ceremony was graced by the Commander of the 254 Snow Leopard Brigade as Chief Guest, with Councillor Ishey Spalzang and the CO of 13 Guards as Guests of Honour. The occasion served as a celebration of community spirit and youth engagement.
Organized by the Nyoma Youth Association, this year’s tournament was a reflection of dedication, teamwork, and regional pride. The Kailash Trophy has evolved into more than a sporting event—it represents hope, identity, and resilience for the youth living in this high-altitude frontier.
As Changthang Shan lifted the trophy, they did so carrying the dreams and determination of the entire region.
