LEH: Youth participants of the Viksit Bharat Vibrant Village Programme were flagged off on Tuesday for a seven-day educational and cultural tour to border villages of the Changthang region, aimed at deepening their understanding of life, development and strategic realities in frontier areas.
The flag-off ceremony was led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Leh, Tashi Namgyal, and State Director, Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), UT Ladakh, Tajamul Ara. Senior ITBP officers and MY Bharat officials were also present.
The week-long tour, scheduled from June 9 to 15, forms a major component of the Viksit Bharat Vibrant Village Programme being conducted across Ladakh from June 3 to 15.
During the visit, participants will stay in different border villages across Changthang and interact closely with local communities. The programme will provide them with first-hand exposure to developmental initiatives in border areas while offering insights into the region’s unique cultural traditions, lifestyle and strategic importance.
Officials said the initiative seeks to strengthen awareness among youth about the challenges and opportunities in remote frontier regions and encourage greater engagement with issues related to border development and nation-building.
The tour is also designed to foster leadership, civic responsibility and cultural understanding among participants by exposing them to the realities of life in some of the country’s most remote settlements.
Organisers said the programme aligns with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat by creating informed, responsible and socially engaged young citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.
The participants are expected to return with a deeper appreciation of the cultural richness, resilience and developmental aspirations of border communities in Changthang, one of Ladakh’s most strategically significant regions.
