Nyoma, May 14 : The Transport Department, UT Ladakh conducted vehicle fitness inspections, learner’s licence examinations and driving tests in Nyoma as part of an outreach initiative aimed at extending transport-related services to remote areas of Changthang.
The programme witnessed participation from a large number of local residents and aspiring drivers, particularly youth, who appeared for vehicle fitness checks, learner’s licence examinations and practical driving assessments conducted by departmental officials.
The initiative was organised to facilitate doorstep delivery of essential transport services in far-flung regions while simultaneously promoting awareness regarding road safety regulations, responsible driving practices and legal compliance among vehicle users.
Officials said the outreach programme was intended to reduce the difficulties faced by residents of remote areas in accessing transport services, which often require travel to district headquarters and urban centres.
The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) appreciated the response and cooperation extended by the residents of Nyoma, noting that the active participation of local youth contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme.
The event concluded with a cultural programme attended by Nitish Rajora, Deputy Commissioner Changthang, as the Chief Guest. Interacting with residents and youth, the Deputy Commissioner assured that such public outreach programmes would continue in remote areas to ensure accessible and people-oriented governance.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to expanding essential public services in frontier regions and improving citizen access to government facilities across Changthang.
