Kanpur Dehat, UP, Mar 25: Tension gripped a village following an attack during a Buddhist event where an idol was vandalised and the narrator assaulted, prompting heavy police deployment.
ASP Rajesh Pandey stated: “Police received information that some people had vandalised the idol. The narrator was also assaulted. A case is being registered under relevant sections. With the organising committee’s consent, efforts are being made to reinstall the idol. The idol is on the way and will be installed very soon. Due to the trust expressed by the local people in the police and administration, the situation is largely peaceful.”
Police continue to monitor the area to maintain calm.
