Leh, Mar 28: Three students have been selected to represent Ladakh at the national Youth Parliament 2026 following the state-level selection event held at University of Ladakh on Friday.
Mohd Tawheed secured first place in the competition, while Zulikha Banoo stood second. Saraswati Roka of EJM College Leh secured third place. The three finalists will now represent Ladakh at the Youth Parliament in New Delhi.
A total of ten students from colleges across Leh and Kargil districts participated in the event. The participants spoke on the theme “Union Budget 2026 – strengthening the Indian Youth’s path towards Viksit Bharat 2047”, presenting their perspectives on economic policy and youth development.
Administrative Secretary, Higher Education, Bhanu Prabha attended the programme as Chief Guest. Vice Chancellor Saket Kushwaha was present as Guest of Honour, along with officials from various government departments.
Four students from EJM College had qualified for the state-level round after clearing the district-level competition.
The finalists were felicitated with trophies and ceremonial scarves by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest and the Vice Chancellor addressed the gathering, encouraging the participants and acknowledging their understanding of public policy and governance.
Organisers stated that the event aimed to promote awareness of democratic processes and develop leadership skills among students in the region. All participants were commended for their performance and participation.
