Kargil, Apr 16: Nearly 500 aspiring candidates attended the opening day of a two-day orientation programme organised by District Police Kargil on Wednesday, as the administration stepped up efforts to prepare youth for the upcoming Ladakh Police recruitment examinations.
Held in two batches at the Syed Mehdi Memorial Auditorium Hall, the sessions focused on guiding candidates appearing for Constable and Sub-Inspector posts, with an emphasis on the written examination, eligibility framework and physical preparedness.
The programme, conducted under the directions of Director General of Police Mukesh Singh and supervised by Senior Superintendent of Police Nitin Yadav, witnessed a high level of engagement from participants, reflecting growing interest in police service across the district.
Chairing the session, SSP Yadav underscored the importance of discipline and sustained preparation, noting that increasing competition demands consistent effort. He also reminded aspirants of the responsibilities associated with police service, urging them to approach the recruitment process with commitment and clarity of purpose.
Earlier, Additional Superintendent of Police Ishtiyaq Ahmad Kacho welcomed the participants and described the orientation as part of a broader outreach initiative aimed at equipping candidates with the necessary tools to navigate the recruitment process. He advised aspirants to prepare rigorously for both the Physical Endurance Test and the written examination.
Providing a detailed breakdown of the examination structure, Sub-Inspector Mehdi Khan outlined eligibility criteria, stages of selection and procedural requirements. He also highlighted the advantage of National Cadet Corps certification in the selection process.
Academic inputs formed a central component of the programme, with resource person Mehboob Ilahi explaining the syllabus and examination pattern through a structured presentation. He introduced candidates to digital learning tools, including the “Roam Prep” mobile application, designed to aid preparation through mock tests and practice modules. Aspirants were also encouraged to analyse previous years’ question papers to align their preparation strategy.
The sessions concluded with an interactive segment, where candidates raised queries related to the recruitment process and received clarifications from officials. To encourage participation, study material from Ladakh Academy was distributed to candidates who performed well during the interaction.
Adding an operational perspective, the venue also hosted displays of rescue equipment from the UTDRF, law and order gear, and a Mobile Forensic Van equipped with investigative tools, offering aspirants a glimpse into field-level policing.
Senior officers, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Tundup Dorjey, were present during the proceedings, which were coordinated by Inspector Haji Mohd Nissar.
Officials said the second day of the programme will focus on Sub-Inspector aspirants, as the district police continues its outreach to streamline preparation and ensure wider participation in the recruitment process.
