Srinagar Police attaches ₹1 crore property of notorious drug peddler in major NDPS crackdown.

SRINAGAR DEC 07: Srinagar Police escalated its aggressive drive against narcotics trafficking on Sunday by attaching a lavish double-storey residential property valued at approximately ₹1 crore in Natipora, after a detailed investigation confirmed it was purchased and constructed using profits from illegal drug sales.

The targeted house, situated in Astan Mohalla, Natipora, stands registered under the name of Javid Ahmad Ganie, son of Nazir Ahmad Ganie—a notorious habitual offender in the drug trade. Police have booked him in FIR No. 23/2025 at Chanapora Police Station, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act for his alleged involvement in possession, sale, and distribution of narcotics.

Probe findings provided irrefutable proof that the entire structure was funded through Ganie’s illicit earnings from peddling drugs. Based on this evidence, the competent authority swiftly issued orders for attachment under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, a key provision empowering seizure of assets derived from narco-crimes.

The operation unfolded methodically in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class from Chanapora, guaranteeing strict adherence to legal protocols. Consequently, Ganie now faces a comprehensive ban on any dealings with the property—he cannot sell, transfer, modify, or create any third-party rights over it, effectively freezing his ill-gotten gains.

This high-profile seizure underscores Srinagar Police’s comprehensive strategy to financially cripple drug cartels operating in Kashmir, by methodically tracing, identifying, and confiscating properties built on narcotics money. Officials emphasised that such measures strike at the economic roots of trafficking networks, making it unsustainable for peddlers to sustain their operations.

Srinagar Police reiterated its ironclad commitment to unrelenting action against all facets of the drug menace—be it promoters, financiers, suppliers, or facilitators—while appealing to the public to actively collaborate in the mission to eradicate drugs and foster a completely drug-free society.
