JAMMU, Aug 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Power Employees and Engineers Coordination Committee (JKPEECC) on Friday called off its indefinite strike after Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) agreed to several key demands following late-night negotiations.
The employees had gone on strike on Thursday seeking revocation of suspension orders, registration of FIRs in power theft cases and formulation of a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for damaged electricity meters.
An agreement on the committee’s nine-point charter was reached around 1:45 am after several hours of discussions between JKPEECC convenor Sachin Tickoo, JKEEGA president Sanjay Sharma and JPDCL Managing Director Gurpal Singh.
As part of the agreement, JPDCL revoked the suspension orders issued against six employees and kept the related show-cause notices in abeyance.
The management also agreed to authorise designated officers to file complaints in power theft cases and formulate an SOP for damaged meters within one month.
It further assured that agencies responsible for deficiencies in meter-related works would be proceeded against, while Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) would be expedited.
JPDCL also assured the employees that any action against staff members would be taken strictly in accordance with due procedure.
Following the agreement, the JKPEECC announced the withdrawal of its strike and the resumption of normal duties by the employees.
