Leh, Apr 22: Emphasising the administration’s resolve to improve access to education in remote areas, Administrative Secretary, School and Higher Education, Bhanu Prabha on Tuesday said that targeted interventions were being prioritised to ensure that no child is hindered by distance or lack of connectivity, as she handed over a Force Traveller vehicle for students of Government Primary School Basgorong in Chushot.
The vehicle, provided by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, is aimed at addressing long-standing transportation constraints faced by students, many of whom travel considerable distances under challenging conditions. Officials said the initiative is expected to facilitate safer and more dependable commuting, with a direct bearing on attendance and classroom engagement.
The vehicle was formally entrusted to local Nambardars, Manzoor Hussain and Haider Ali, in the presence of School Management Committee member Habibullah at DIET Leh, marking a collaborative effort between the administration and community representatives.
During her interaction with students and staff, Bhanu Prabha reviewed key academic indicators, including enrolment trends, attendance patterns, and overall scholastic performance. She acknowledged the efforts of the teaching staff in sustaining educational standards despite logistical challenges and encouraged students to remain focused on their academic pursuits.
Community members and students welcomed the initiative, observing that the availability of a dedicated vehicle would ease daily commuting difficulties and contribute to improved participation in school activities.
Reaffirming the administration’s continued focus on strengthening educational infrastructure, the Secretary said similar measures would be pursued to support institutions in far-flung areas, with an emphasis on ensuring equitable learning opportunities.
Chief Education Officer Leh, Deldan Angmo, along with teaching staff and other officials, was present on the occasion.
