Amritsar Apr 9 : In a major breakthrough, District Amritsar Rural, District Gurdaspur and the State Security Organisation Cell (SSOC)–Amritsar, in a joint operation with central agencies, have busted an ISI‑sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module operated by a foreign‑based handler and arrested two accused. Significant recoveries include five hand grenades, two special detonators, a PTT timer with coder and decoder, a 9V battery, around 1 kg of IED‑grade high explosive packed with nails, and a Baofeng walkie‑talkie with cable and trigger mechanism, indicating preparations for high‑impact attacks aimed at disturbing public peace.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Kalanaur, Gurdaspur, under the relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, while further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages, including foreign handlers and local support networks. Punjab Police reiterated its firm commitment to maintaining peace, security, and public safety across the state.
