Leh, Dec 22: A delegation of the Press Club Leh on Monday met BJP State President Tashi Gyaltson Khachu to press for the formal handover of the Press Club Leh building, a demand that has remained pending for a considerable period.
The delegation, led by Press Club Leh President Morup Stanzin, raised concerns over the absence of an official handover, stating that the delay has created hurdles in the smooth conduct of journalistic work in the region. Members of the executive body accompanying him underlined that the lack of a formally transferred and functional premises has affected routine media activities.
During the interaction, Morup Stanzin stressed that a duly allotted and operational space is necessary for the media fraternity to function effectively and respond to Ladakh’s changing socio political environment. He maintained that journalists require a stable institutional base to carry out their professional responsibilities.
Responding to the representation, Tashi Gyaltson Khachu listened to the issues raised by the delegation and acknowledged the urgency of the matter. He subsequently contacted concerned administrative officials, urging them to hasten the required legal and administrative procedures so that the handover of the Press Club Leh building can be completed at the earliest.
