Jammu: BJP will hold a massive protest against the National Conference (NC)-led government in Jammu & Kashmir on 17th of August 2026, Monday, for betraying the people’s mandate, failing to fulfill its election promises, and pushing the Union Territory into a state of administrative paralysis.

The decision was taken during a meeting held at the BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, chaired by J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma along with BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul.

The meeting was attended by J&K BJP Vice-President Priya Sethi, General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Gopal Mahajan, and other senior party leaders.

Sat Sharma, while addressing the meeting, said that the NC government has “miserably failed on every front” since assuming office and has completely shattered the hopes and aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the promises made during the Assembly elections have been abandoned, while the government has devoted its entire energy to political theatrics, misleading narratives, and blaming the Central Government for its own failures.

“The people voted expecting governance, development, employment, better public services, and accountability. Instead, they have received an insensitive government that has failed to deliver even its own manifesto commitments. The NC government has become synonymous with inaction, confusion, and political deception,” Sat Sharma said.

Sharma asserted that the BJP will not allow the voice of the people to be suppressed and will take the issues of the common citizen to the streets. He said the proposed protest is not merely a political programme but a people’s movement to expose the failures of the present dispensation and hold it accountable before the public.

Ashok Koul said that while the NC government continues to indulge in blame games, the people are struggling with deteriorating public services, unemployment, poor governance, and an administration that has lost touch with the ground realities. He said that instead of accepting responsibility, the government is constantly attempting to divert public attention from its failures.

Koul informed that BJP workers will assemble at three different locations in Jammu city before converging into a massive protest march against the NC government. Responsibilities have been assigned to senior party leaders to ensure the programme is conducted in a disciplined and effective manner, he said.
