Leh, May 17 : In an effort to strengthen experiential learning in government schools, the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Leh on Friday conducted an outreach programme through its STEM Bus Lab at Middle School Spituk Ldumra, introducing students to practical science and mathematics learning aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Students of Classes 6, 7 and 8 participated in the programme, which focused on bringing hands-on scientific learning directly to classrooms, particularly in schools lacking dedicated laboratory infrastructure for middle-standard students.
The STEM Bus Lab was flagged off by Mirza Mehdi in the presence of Tsering Yangdol.
Addressing the students and faculty members, Tsering Yangdol highlighted the importance of mobile science laboratories in contemporary education and said the initiative was designed in line with the objectives of NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE). She said the programme seeks to nurture scientific temper among students by providing access to practical learning tools in science and mathematics at the middle-school level.
The academic sessions were conducted by a DIET Leh team comprising Kunzes Dolma, Rashida Parveen and Sonam Disket, who demonstrated interactive experiments and concept-based activities in chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics based on the NCERT curriculum.
Students were encouraged to actively participate in experiments and observation-based learning exercises aimed at making scientific concepts more accessible and engaging.
Head of Middle School Spituk Ldumra Phunchok Angchok appreciated the initiative and described the STEM Bus Lab as an effective educational intervention for schools in remote and semi-urban areas. He also expressed interest in further collaboration with DIET Leh for future academic activities and outreach programmes.
