Leh, May 17 : The Cooperative Marketing Society Ltd., Diskit, Nubra on Friday elected a new Board of Directors for a three-year term during its Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) held at Nubra T-Morh under the supervision of officials from the Cooperative Department, UT Ladakh.
The meeting was convened in accordance with Election Notification No. 05 of 2026 dated May 11 issued by the office of the Additional Registrar Cooperative, UT Ladakh.
The proceedings were chaired by outgoing president Dorjai Dadul and attended by Sharma Tashi, who presided over the election process on behalf of the Cooperative Department.
Following deliberations, members of the General Body unanimously elected the new office-bearers and Board members without contest. Sonam Tundup Tigar was elected President, while Golam Hussain was chosen as Vice President. Sonam Dorje was elected Secretary, Chewang Dorjey as Accountant and Rabgais as Field Manager.
Earlier, Sharma Tashi briefed members on the election procedure, the functioning of cooperative marketing societies and their role in strengthening local economic activity. He also presented details regarding the financial position and current status of the society’s affairs.
Outgoing president Dorjai Dadul outlined the infrastructure development and overall progress achieved by the society during the past three years, while Accountant Chewang Dorjey presented account-related details before the General Body.
Members also held detailed discussions on issues concerning the supply of vegetables and measures required to improve procurement, distribution and future operational planning of the society.
The meeting concluded peacefully with members extending unanimous consent to the newly elected Board, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Sonam Tundup Tigar.
