Leh, Sept 18: As part of the nationwide observance of Yatri Sewa Diwas 2025, the Kushok Bakula Rinpoche (KBR) Airport, Leh organised a special educational visit for students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Leh on September 17. The initiative aimed at nurturing curiosity about aviation and inspiring young minds to explore opportunities in the field.
The students were given a guided tour of the airport, where they witnessed the functioning of critical departments such as passenger services, security, air traffic management, and ground handling. The visit provided them with a rare chance to see the behind-the-scenes operations that make air travel possible at one of the world’s highest-altitude airports.
Airport Director A. Umashankar interacted with the Kendriya Vidyalaya students, encouraging them to dream big and consider careers in aviation. “Airports are not just gateways of travel, but also gateways of opportunity. This initiative is meant to ignite curiosity among young minds and help them appreciate the teamwork that keeps air travel safe and efficient,” he said.
The session also highlighted the airport’s commitment to passenger service, sustainability, and community engagement, which are central to the Yatri Sewa Diwas initiative.
For the students, the visit was both educational and inspiring. “I always saw planes flying above, but today I got to learn how an airport functions from the inside. It makes me want to become a pilot one day,” shared a student.
The programme concluded with airport staff sharing experiences of working in the challenging terrain of Ladakh and the pride of serving as the region’s lifeline of connectivity.
The event not only enriched the students’ understanding of aviation but also embodied the spirit of Yatri Sewa Diwas—serving today’s travellers while inspiring tomorrow’s.
