KARGIL: Director Social and Tribal Welfare Ladakh, Kunzes Angmo, on Tuesday flagged documentation lapses and cautioned Anganwadi personnel against any breach of welfare norms during a field inspection of centres under the ICDS Project Shargole.
Undertaking surprise visits at Gongma Rgyalkhang, Youkma Rgyalkhang Wakha, Karamba Khar and Lotsum First, the Director scrutinised registers, interacted with staff and beneficiaries, and pressed for strict adherence to government-mandated procedures. She reminded Anganwadi Workers and Helpers that public welfare schemes carry statutory accountability and that any omissions affecting beneficiaries could trigger departmental scrutiny.
At Gongma Rgyalkhang, Angmo questioned record upkeep and urged the staff to ensure every service delivered is duly documented to curb irregularities. During her visit to Youkma Rgyalkhang, she collected feedback from mothers and children on the quality and timeliness of nutrition and pre-school support, warning that negligence would not be condoned.
Inspecting the newly relocated Anganwadi Centre at Karamba Khar, the Director examined infrastructure, reinforcing that safe and fully functional premises are a non-negotiable mandate under child welfare regulations.
Later at the CDPO Office Shargole, she convened a compliance review with project officials, issuing instructions for immediate enrollment of children under self-Aadhaar, creation of APAAR IDs for education tracking, generation of ABHA health cards, and exploring co-location of Anganwadi centres inside school campuses to tighten oversight.
Her final stop at Lotsum First saw a thorough examination of registers and service logs. Angmo reiterated that meticulous record-keeping is crucial to prevent misuse of welfare resources and ensure that every entitled child and mother receives full benefits under the law.
