Leh, Mar 26: Delegations from Korzok Monastery and Jungner Spituk Monastery on Wednesday called on Tashi Gyalson, former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, placing before him a range of concerns related to regional development, institutional growth, and administrative priorities in Changthang and Leh.
The Korzok Monastery delegation, comprising members of the Gonpa Committee—Ven. Jigmat Norboo Chakzot, Ven. Kunzang Dorjay, Ven. Sangay Dorjay, and Ven. Jigmat Tsultim—held detailed discussions in the presence of former BJP Councillor Karma Namdak. The representatives highlighted issues concerning infrastructure, community welfare, and the overall development of the Korzok Constituency.
Central to the discussion was the proposed Changthang district, with the delegation stressing the need for effective implementation and improved administrative mechanisms to address local challenges. They also acknowledged developmental works undertaken during Gyalson’s tenure, particularly those benefiting Korzok Monastery, which remains a key cultural and spiritual centre in the region.
In response, Gyalson assured continued support to both the monastery and the local population, reiterating his commitment to contributing towards the development of Korzok and the wider Changthang area. He also noted the role played by Karma Namdak in facilitating coordinated planning and execution of development works during his tenure.
Earlier, a delegation from Jungner Spituk Monastery, comprising Ven. Lobzang Angchok, Ven. Stanzin Tharchin, and Ishey Tundup, also met Gyalson and presented a progress report outlining ongoing initiatives and future plans for strengthening the monastery.
The delegation expressed appreciation for the support extended during Gyalson’s tenure and extended an invitation for him to visit the monastery, reflecting continued institutional engagement.
