LEH DEC 11 : The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has announced that December 20, 2025 (Saturday), will be a full working day for the High Court, in addition to December 27, 2025, which had already been notified as a working Saturday.
The move follows a communication from the Chief Justice of India to the Chief Justice of the High Court, encouraging regular Saturday sittings to tackle mounting case pendency and strengthen the justice delivery system. Acting on this, the High Court leadership has decided that the court will function normally on the specified Saturdays.
By opening on extra Saturdays, the High Court seeks to reduce arrears, improve efficiency and reinforce public confidence in the judiciary’s role as a guardian of constitutional democracy. The step reflects a proactive and reform-oriented approach, underlining the institution’s commitment to discharging its constitutional duties with greater urgency and dedication.
