JAMMU DEC 11 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday distributed government appointment letters to 41 next of kin of civilians killed in terrorism-related incidents in the Jammu division, providing long-awaited relief to affected families.
In addition to these appointments, jobs were sanctioned for 22 beneficiaries under age-relaxation cases and for 19 wards of J&K Police martyrs under the Compassionate Appointment Rules (SRO-43) and the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme. Sinha noted that, together with 94 appointments made on July 28 this year, support has now reached 135 families who had been waiting for justice and recognition for decades.
Addressing the gathering, the LG paid tribute to civilian victims of terrorism and stressed that their families had long been “left to struggle in silence” but are now being acknowledged, respected and rehabilitated. He said providing employment to genuine victims and martyrs demonstrates the nation’s resolve to stand with them and restore their dignity and economic security.
Sinha highlighted individual cases from districts such as Rajouri, Reasi and Kishtwar, where families endured hardship for nearly 20 years before receiving this support, and said these appointments represent a new beginning for them. He reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the administration is dismantling the terror ecosystem, denying government jobs to terrorists, separatists and their patrons, and instead subjecting them to the “harshest” legal penalties.
The LG cautioned that remnants of a “dying” terror network are still attempting to spread misinformation and negative narratives, warning that anyone fanning separatism or threatening national unity will face stringent legal action. He urged all sections of society to participate in what he called the “Mahayagya of development” in Jammu and Kashmir, as senior police, civil officials, public representatives and families of terror victims attended the event.
