Mumbai, Dec 7: IndiGo announced it will operate 1,650 of its 2,300 scheduled daily domestic and international flights on Sunday, with 650 services remaining cancelled, as operations gradually stabilise following massive disruptions over the past five days.
The airline updated its recovery timeline, now expecting full network stabilisation by December 10, ahead of the previously projected December 10-15 window. On Saturday, IndiGo’s on-time performance from six metro airports improved to 20.7 per cent, according to the Civil Aviation Ministry website, with around 1,500 flights operated against approximately 800 cancellations.
The ongoing disruptions have led to hundreds of cancellations and delays, severely impacting thousands of passengers. An IndiGo spokesperson stated that significant and sustained improvements are underway across the network, noting Sunday’s operations will exceed Friday’s 1,500 flights. Friday marked the airline’s worst day historically, with about 1,600 cancellations triggered by crew shortages after the second phase of court-mandated flight duty and rest norms took effect—norms now relaxed for IndiGo by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
IndiGo emphasised “very significant” progress in restoring schedules and bolstering customer support, with cancellations issued early to notify passengers promptly. Refund and baggage processes are fully operational for direct and indirect bookings, and the airline urged customers to check flight status on its website before heading to airports. Teams continue collaborating with authorities and stakeholders for a swift return to normalcy.
