NEW DELHI, JUNE 20: India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting on June 22 and 23, with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval chairing the deliberations, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday.
According to the MEA, National Security Advisers and heads of delegation from BRICS member countries will discuss the theme, “Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today.” The meeting will focus on the evolving nature of security threats and the impact of emerging technologies on national and global security.
The participants will also review the outcomes of the recently held BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies.
India is holding the BRICS Chairship for the fourth time in 2026, having previously chaired the grouping in 2012, 2016 and 2021. This year’s chairship is guided by the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” reflecting the people-centric and humanity-first approach articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2025 Rio Summit.
BRICS currently comprises 11 countries—Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. The grouping serves as a platform for cooperation on political, security, economic and developmental issues, with its agenda extending to areas such as counter-terrorism, climate change, food and energy security, trade, telecommunications and global governance.
