JODHPUR, OCT 10: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said India is closely monitoring developments in its neighbourhood and across the world, including their wider strategic implications, amid rapid changes in modern warfare and the global security environment.
Singh made the remarks while attending the multinational air exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at the Air Force Station in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He made the statement after witnessing an aerial display during the event.
“India is continuously monitoring developments in our region and beyond along with their broader strategic implications,” the Defence Minister said.
He noted that the existing global order was undergoing significant changes, while the contours of the future international order remained uncertain.
Focus On Self-Reliance In Defence
Highlighting the government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Singh said India aims to strengthen its domestic defence capabilities while continuing to engage with the rest of the world.
He clarified that self-reliance does not mean isolation but building the capacity to design, develop, manufacture, maintain and upgrade critical defence technologies within the country.
The Defence Minister also said the Indian armed forces were undergoing a fundamental transformation across structural, material and strategic dimensions.
His remarks come amid evolving security challenges and changes in military technology, underlining India’s focus on strengthening its defence preparedness and domestic manufacturing capabilities.
