Leh, Jul 21: A comprehensive camp for the revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll commenced today in Leh district, marking a significant step toward strengthening grassroots democracy. The initiative was inaugurated in the presence of Romil Singh Donk, Deputy Commissioner and District Panchayat Election Officer of Leh. Also in attendance were Ghulam Mohd, Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh; the District Panchayat Officer and Electoral Registration Officer Leh; and the District Informatics Officer from NIC Leh.
The camp started with the public display of electoral rolls at designated booths. These booths are being managed efficiently by Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Panchayat Electoral Booth Officers, ensuring transparency and accessibility for all eligible voters.
To facilitate maximum participation, special camps for electoral roll revision have been scheduled across multiple dates in July and August 2025. The objective of this revision process is to enable the inclusion of new voters, removal of ineligible names, correction of details, and transposition of entries within the Panchayat electoral roll.
All eligible individuals who have attained the age of 18 years as of January 1, 2025, are encouraged to take part in the drive and update their voter information during these special camps. The administration urges every eligible resident to verify and correct their details to ensure fair and inclusive Panchayat elections.
