Leh, Sept 09: A day-long training session on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and other lifestyle-related illnesses was held on September 8 at Pal Hotel under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD).
Medical Officers and Community Health Officers of Leh Block participated in the programme, which was facilitated by Dr. Mudasir, consultant with the World Health Organization. He described NAFLD as a growing public health challenge linked to obesity, diabetes, poor diet, and sedentary lifestyles, while urging early screening and lifestyle changes as key preventive measures.
State Nodal Officer for NCDs in Ladakh, Dr. Rinchen Angmo, along with the District Health Officer and NCD team, attended the training. The event also included a Training of Trainers module for Leh’s Medical Officers to help spread awareness and preventive practices at grassroots level.
Health officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen early intervention and reduce the burden of chronic diseases in the region.
