Bhutanese Royal Family pay courtesy Call on LG Ladakh
Leh, Sept 09: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, underlined the centuries-old cultural, spiritual, and economic bonds between Ladakh and Bhutan while welcoming Her Majesty Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness Princess Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck at the Raj Niwas. He observed that the visit of the Bhutanese Royals would further strengthen people-to-people ties between the two regions, bound together by a shared Buddhist heritage.
Her Majesty Queen Mother conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the Lieutenant Governor and the Union Territory administration for their warm hospitality during the Royal Family’s maiden official visit to Ladakh. She reflected on her experiences, lauding the scenic splendour of the high-altitude region and the genuine affection of its people. The Queen Mother also shared details of the places visited during their stay, expressing admiration for Ladakh’s unique cultural landscape, which she said had left a lasting impression on the Bhutanese delegation.
In his remarks, the Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed Ladakh’s appreciation of its ties with Bhutan, rooted in centuries of cultural, spiritual, and economic exchanges. He highlighted initiatives spearheaded under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that development in Ladakh remains aligned with cultural preservation. Emphasising the Buddhist heritage that unites the two regions, Gupta underlined Ladakh’s commitment to preserving and promoting this legacy while acknowledging Bhutan’s efforts in nurturing similar traditions.
First Lady Bindu Gupta also joined the interaction, extending a warm welcome to the Queen Mother and the Princess. She appreciated Bhutan’s efforts in sustaining its cultural traditions while confidently embracing modernity.
The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with both sides expressing hope for enhanced exchanges in cultural and spiritual spheres. Officials noted that the Royal visit not only reaffirmed historical ties but also paved the way for deeper engagement, symbolising a bridge between tradition and contemporary aspirations.
