Leh, Apr 28 : Welcoming the formal notification for the creation of five new districts in Ladakh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ladakh Vice President Haji Anayat Ali on Monday expressed gratitude to the Union Territory administration and the central leadership, stating that the move would enhance governance and improve service delivery in remote regions.
The newly notified districts—Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Changthang and Nubra—were approved following a recent meeting at Lok Niwas, with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena issuing the official notification.
In a statement, Ali thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their leadership and continued support to Ladakh, asserting that the administrative restructuring would strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate development in far-flung areas.
He said the formation of new districts would enable better outreach of government schemes and ensure more efficient public service delivery, particularly in regions that have long faced logistical and administrative challenges due to difficult terrain and remoteness.
Congratulating residents of the newly formed districts, Ali noted that the decision addresses a long-standing demand and is expected to streamline administrative processes while fostering balanced regional growth.
He also acknowledged the role of Tashi Gyalson, crediting his consistent efforts in pushing for the reorganisation. In addition, he recognised the contribution of BJP workers across Ladakh, whose sustained engagement helped bring the issue to the forefront.
Ali further extended appreciation to the central and local party leadership, stating that the development opens a new phase of governance and inclusive growth in the Union Territory.
