Leh, Apr 28 : In an effort to deepen classroom engagement through practical exposure, DIET Leh on Monday flagged off a STEM Lab Bus for Riglam Model School, introducing students to hands-on learning in core science disciplines.
The mobile laboratory, inaugurated by Principal Mirza Mehdi, is aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical instruction and real-world application. Senior faculty, including Head of Department Tsering Yangdol and lecturers Kunzes Dolma, Chetna Sharma, and Sonam Diskit, were present at the launch, along with Technical Expert Jigmet and assisting staff member Tsering Chorol.
Upon arrival at the school, the lab bus hosted a series of interactive sessions where students participated in basic experiments in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. The exercises were structured to demonstrate scientific concepts through observation and experimentation, allowing learners to move beyond conventional textbook methods.
The initiative drew an encouraging response, with students actively engaging in the activities and displaying a strong sense of curiosity. The sessions created a participatory environment, where learners explored concepts independently while receiving guidance from instructors.
Faculty members observed that such interventions play a crucial role in improving conceptual clarity and fostering confidence among students. By introducing practical elements into everyday learning, the programme seeks to make science more approachable and relevant, particularly in remote regions.
Officials noted that the STEM Lab Bus is part of a broader strategy to promote activity-based education and strengthen foundational learning. The initiative, they added, reflects an ongoing commitment to making education more interactive and accessible, while encouraging students to develop critical thinking skills.
With plans to extend the programme to more schools, DIET Leh is positioning the mobile STEM lab as a sustained effort to reshape learning practices and expand opportunities for students across the region.
