Bishnah, Dec 27: Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah on Saturday organised a special screening of the animated film Chaar Sahibzaade to mark the martyrdom of the four Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The event was organised by the Department of Punjabi as part of its efforts to familiarise students with the historical legacy, courage, and moral strength of the Sahibzadas, whose sacrifice continues to guide generations.
The programme was held under the supervision of Principal Dr Shallu Samyal, who was present during the screening. She appreciated the initiative and said such programmes play an important role in shaping students’ values and understanding of history. She also lauded the department for choosing a meaningful medium to connect young minds with the past.
Students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff attended the screening in large numbers. The film, which narrates the story of the Sahibzadas through animation, deeply moved the audience by portraying their steadfast faith, courage, and sense of duty in the face of extreme hardship.
Head of the Department of Punjabi, Dr Kusum, formally introduced the programme and welcomed the participants. She underlined the need to remember such episodes of history, stating that they help preserve cultural heritage while encouraging ethical thinking among students.
The screening served both as a tribute to the Sahibzadas and as an academic exercise to promote historical awareness. The programme concluded with participants expressing deep respect for the sacrifices that continue to inspire society.
