Kargil, Sept 12: “With the support of the UT Ladakh administration, LAHDC Kargil is committed to bringing meaningful reforms in the education system,” said Zakir Hussain, Executive Councillor for Education, while addressing the Annual Day Celebration of Government Model Middle School, Gramthang, Minjee. He praised the efforts of the school faculty and the Village Education Committee for raising student enrolment from just seven to around seventy, highlighting the active role of the local community in this achievement.
The event was attended by Director School Education, Ladakh, Tashi Dolma; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kargil, Jahangir Akhoon; Councillor Baroo-Minjee, Adv. Khadim Hussain; Principal DIET; Chief Education Officer, Kargil; Group Manager, NHPC Chutuk; along with ZEPOs, VEC members, former councillors, villagers, and students.
Director School Education Tashi Dolma praised the students’ performances and assured the provision of interactive panels and teaching-learning materials to strengthen classroom activities. She directed the Chief Education Officer, Kargil, to ensure the school’s participation in the upcoming Kala Utsav and encouraged exploring additional support avenues. She also acknowledged NHPC’s contributions under their CSR programs.
Councillor Baroo-Minjee, Adv. Khadim Hussain, emphasized the school’s growth and informed that sixteen kanals of land have been allotted for its expansion. He also noted that construction of five new schools is currently underway in Baroo-Minjee and expressed commitment to further educational development in the constituency.
The day began with the inauguration of additional classrooms and a kitchen-cum-storeroom, followed by cultural performances, speeches, and a Qawwali recitation on inflation by the students. The Chief Education Officer, Kargil, and NHPC’s Group Manager also addressed the gathering.
